CHANDIGARH: LPG distributors from Punjab, Haryana, Himachla Pardesh, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir on Friday extended support to the kin of petrol pump dealer Gurkirpal Singh Chawla while demanding an impartial probe into his suicide.
Chawla had allegedly committed suicide in a Haryana Tourism-run hotel in Panchkula on July 22. In his suicide not, Chawla had alleged that he was being humiliated by the officials of petro companies and breach of trust by some people in Chandigarh.
Headed by president Lt Col (retd) K J Bhuttar and general secretary Manoj B Nangia of the All India LPG Distributors Association (NWR), the association said that the incident has become an eye opener for all.
``This suicide has revealed the amount of stress, we the distributors/dealers in the oil industry are facing on a daily basis. Many distributors from LPG trade have been sharing instances where they have been subjected to humiliation and acute pressure from Oil companies and other officials, we condemn such attitude by oil company officials,’’ said Nangia.
The LPG distributors demand a fair investigation in the case so that the culprits could be brought to the book, Nangia said.
