Covid restrictions extended till August 31: CM Hemant Soren

RANCHI: The government will take a call on extending the lockdown based on a survey being planned by the state department of health, medical education and family welfare to ascertain the ground scenario of Covid-19 infections in the state, chief minister Hemant Soren on Thursday. While the Soren said the current restrictions and relaxations prevailing in Jharkhand have been extended till August 31.
The government’s decision indicates that movie theaters, gymnasiums, bars, schools, colleges and academic institutes will continue to remain shut. Public transport for inter-district movement will also remain closed and night curfews will continue in the state.
Speaking to reporters at the Project Building, Soren said: “The health department is gearing up to conduct lakhs of tests in the next few days to know the prevalence and the true scenario of Covid-19 infection in Jharkhand. Further course of action will be taken after the arrival of the survey report.”
In the evening, chief secretary Sukhdev Singh issued an order to all deputy commissioners and SPs of 24 districts directing them to apply indelible ink on persons who have been asked to be on home quarantine. The order also mandates random inspection of persons in home quarantine and setting up of registration kiosks at railway stations, airport and inter-state check points for those entering Jharkhand. Stickers have to pasted outside the homes of the persons in quarantine with their names written on it.
