Vikas Dubey (File photo)NEW DELHI: A Mumbai-based advocate-cum-PIL petitioner on Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking disbanding of the inquiry commission formed to look into the encounter killings of gangster Vikas Dubey and his aides alleging that a fair probe would not be possible as the head of the panel Justice B S Chauhan’s close relatives were BJP legislators.
Ghanshyam Upadhyay filed an application alleging bias against both Justice Chauhan and ex-DGP K L Gupta, who he said was a relative of the Kanpur zone IG under whose jurisdiction the killing of Dubey took place. Quoting an article on a web portal, Upadhyay claimed, “Justice Chauhan’s brother Virender Singh is currently a BJP member of the legislative council in UP.
Justice Chauhan’s daughter is married to the son of BJP MP from Rajasthan, Sukhbir Jaunpuria.” Upadhyay claimed, “It is discernible that the aforesaid two members (Justice Chauhan and ex-DGP Gupta) are in active collusion with the state administration in hushing up the... fake encounters.”
