Mumbai: Businessman given clean chit in cheating case

MUMBAI: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police probing a cheating case pertaining film producer Gaurang Doshi has given a clean chit to Subodh Dharkar, the person who had played a mediator’s role in the loan agreement between accused Ashish Kumar Sarkar and Gaurang Doshi.
Dharkar who runs a firm called Money Manager private limited will now be a witness in the case.
In March this year, the EOW arrested Sarkar, a resident of Mukundpur from Kolkata for cheating Guarang on the pretext of availing a loan of Rs 150 crore. Gurang was looking for a loan to invest in Hindi movies.
Dharkar whose name cropped up in Doshi’s complaint visited the EOW and clarified his stand. Dharkar told police that he had just introduced Sarkar and Doshi through common friends and in fact, he has been duped alleged Dharkar.
Subodh in a signing mandate letter between the two parties had cleared mention that he would not charge any fees in advance and will charge only 2% after the loan is processed and disbursed. And in this case, neither loan was processed nor was disbursed, MMIPL didn’t charge any fees to either of them.
