European markets show no fall in searches or click-outs (but some evidence of increase between 25-27 July)

trivago has used its own platform data to shed light on how the government’s announcement regarding quarantine for UK visitors returning from Spain (mainland and islands) has affected search and click-outs* on the platform over the past few days. The data reveals:

UK demand for accommodation in Spain drops considerably:

European demand for accommodation in Spain remains consistent:

Looking at click-outs and searches from Europe as a whole into Spain we see a slight increase in demand:

As we home in on individual countries, the differences are less marked, but nowhere near as dramatic as the fall off from the UK into Spain. Over the three-day period from 25th July to 27th July:
