Maharashtra: Twins who joined police department together die due to Covid-19

The twins had joined the Maharashtra Police in 1991.
KALYAN: Two brothers - twins - from Ulhasnagar, who had joined the Maharashtra Police together in 1991, succumbed to the Covid-19 infection in the span of 10 days.
In the first case, 55-year old Dilip Ghodke, who was posted at Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar, died due to Covid-19 during treatment on July 20. His brother Jaisingh Ghodke, who was posted at Ambernath police station, died on Thursday morning during treatment at a Dombivli-based dedicated Covid hospital.
Jagganath Girase, an assistant sub inspector at Ambernath police station, knew the two brothers for the past 19 years.
"It is really shocking for all of us in the police department. Both the brothers were very good in nature and used to help people," Girase said.
"Both the brothers did not had any illness and they were fine. When Dilip was admitted at the hospital after testing positive for the infection, he had told his family not to worry about him as he will get cured. However, within a week he lost his battle against Covid-19," he added.
"Two days after Dilip's death, his brother Jaisingh also started feeling unwell and he too got admitted at Ulhasnagar-4-based Covid-19 hospital. He was later shifted to a Dombivli Covid hospital at Savlaram sports complex where he died during treatment on Thursday morning," a family member said.
Family members said the twins were born in 1965. They both joined the police force together in 1991 and served police department for almost 29 years.
