Discover What Goes Into Making A One-Of-One Koenigsegg Regera

A couple of weeks ago, we first stumbled across a blue carbon fiber Koenigsegg Regera that was recently delivered to the UK. Now, a member of the family that owns it has had the opportunity to sit down with The Supercar Driver to discuss the highly-customized Swedish hypercar and the process of ordering it and taking delivery.

The first thing that strikes you about this Regera is the exterior finish. According to the owner, it is a bespoke shade of blue-tinted carbon fiber that includes diamonds in the lacquer to give it a special shine and sparkle under the sun. Accenting the blue carbon are 24-carat gold lines that were hand-applied by Koenigsegg’s expert craftsmen.

Buying a custom Regera isn’t as simple as walking into a dealership, writing a cheque and picking up the keys then and there. The owner says it took approximately three years from when the hypercar was ordered to when it was delivered. During that time, he took multiple trips to Koenigsegg’s factory to check on the progress made and ensure even the finest details were absolutely perfect. For example, he wanted to check that the gold color of each nut and bolt used was just the way he liked it.

Another interesting detail about the vehicle is that it is the first Koenigsegg Regera with gold-colored wheels. It has also been equipped with the available ‘Ghost Package’ that includes new carbon canards on the front, unique fins on the rear decklid, and a special suspension system.

The owner’s family previously owned a Koenigsegg Agera R, and that is what hooked them on the Swedish brand. We’d probably get hooked on Koenigseggs if we owned an Agera too…
