- Shoppers in Queensland hot spots are encouraged to wear masks from Friday
Woolworths has encouraged customers in NSW and the ACT to wear face masks in all of its stores as the supermarket ramps up coronavirus safety measures.
Face masks will be encouraged in stores from August 3, while Queensland shoppers in hot spot areas are urged to wear masks from Friday.
Shoppers in Woolworths stores all over Victoria will also need to wear masks from Sunday under the updated mask mandate covering the entire state.
Masks will be strongly recommended in all Woolworths stores including Dan Murphys, Big W, BWS and ALH Hotels.

Woolworths Group CEO Brad Banducci said wearing masks in store will help keep the community safe.
'The safety and wellbeing of our customers, teams and communities is our top priority,' he said.

'Even though wearing a face covering is not mandatory in NSW, ACT or Queensland, as the largest private sector employer with stores in almost every community, we feel it's important we lead the way in helping reduce community transmission of COVID-19.

'Masks and face coverings are a highly visible symbol of the persistence of COVID-19.

All Woolworths Group team members have been provided with face masks and will wear them for the foreseeable future.
