First Minister Mark Drakeford has told how he has been living in a "miniature hut" at the bottom of his garden for months.
He had previously revealed that he had not been living in his own home throughout lockdown in a bid to protect his family from the threat of coronavirus.
However, he has now admitted that his choice of alternative accommodation is slightly unusual, reports Wales Online.
Speaking to Heart South Wales radio today, Mr Drakeford said he was actually living in a "miniature hut in his garden.
He said: "As it happens my wife and my mother-in-law are both shielding so it’s very important that they are not put at risk because of their own health conditions.
"The nature of my job is that I am out meeting people all the time and undoubtedly, I am a risk to them.
"So since the beginning of this, they have been living in the house. I have been living in the hut at the bottom of the garden."
Mr Drakeford admitted that he was worried that he might contract the virus and pass it on due to the public nature of his role.
He said: "Well, you’re bound to worry aren’t you, because the reason people are shielding is because they’ve got vulnerabilities in their health and of course you’re bound to feel anxious for them which is why we made the decision early on to try and reduce the risk in the way that we have.
"It’s curious because if you’ve lived with people for a long time then not being in the same house is bound to be a bit odd but we’ve managed and we’re very lucky to be able to do it in the way we do."
Shielding comes to an end in Wales on August 16, but the First Minister has said that he and his family would continue to be "cautious".
"Their health conditions will still be there, and they will both, I think, quite rightly want to go on being careful and cautious," he said, adding that the family would see each outdoors more often than indoors in order to reduce the risk.
When asked for more detail about his hut, Mr Drakeford said i thad not been built exclusively for him to weather the pandemic in.
He said: "It’s been there a long time. It’s just never been used that way before. It’s very miniature. There’s not much of it but it does luckily have enough in terms of facilities in order to get by in."
Playing on the First Minister's self-confessed love of cheese, Jagger asked whether the tiny home also had a secret stash of Caerphilly.
Mr Drakeford replied: "Well what do you say, E’d be dammed if he did and E’d be dammed if he didn’t."
