Ranchi: Taking a serious exception to the alleged lapses in managing Covid cases, the state government issued
show-cause notices on Wednesday to health professionals — including
doctors and nurses — and other senior officials who weren’t found on duty.
State health minister Banna Gupta visited the 1,000-bedded Khelgaon isolation centre, which has been readied to house asymptomatic patients, on Wednesday afternoon and directed officials to ensure that all facilities were in place. Meanwhile, Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan also conducted a surprise inspection at Paras Hospital and issued show-cause notices to 16 government employees — including eight doctors — for reportedly neglecting their duty.
After taking a stock of the preparations at the isolation centre in Khelgaon, Banna said: “A total of 16 wards, eight each for male and female patients, have been readied and I have directed the officials to ensure that none of the patients should face any inconvenience during their stay.”
Notably, Banna went to the sadar hospital here on Tuesday and pulled up Ranchi civil surgeon for the unhygienic conditions at the hospital. “The inspections will continue for the time being and we will take action if any irregularities come to our notice,” Banna said.
Earlier in the day, Ranchi DC along with other senior district officials reached Paras Hospital in Dhurwa ,which has been designated for treating Covid-19 patients. After conducting a surprise inspection for more than 45 minutes, the DC issued show-cause notice to 16 state government employees as they were found absent from their duties.
Talking to TOI, Ranjan said: “I was informed that owing to miscommunication between doctors and other health workers, patient care was getting affected at the hospital. I have, therefore, spoken to all the health workers and sorted out the issues.”
On being asked about doctors and other staff skipping hospital duty, Ranjan said: “We came to know that a few staffers were missing from duty, but sufficient number of doctors and nursing staff were present to take care of the patients. Further, we have issued show-cause notices to those found absent.”
