122 more people test positive for Covid-19 in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: The Union territory of Puducherry reported 122 Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as of 10am on Thursday taking the total number of cases to 3,293. The positivity rate on Thursday stood at 15.5%, which is higher than the national average.
One patient died of the infection taking the death toll to 48. The Covid fatality rate in the territory is 1.5%.
At present, 1,292 patients are undergoing treatment - 472 in Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (IGMC), 351 in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), 219 in Covid care centre, 47 in Yanam Government General Hospital, 44 in Karaikal Government General Hospital and one each at Mahe Government General Hospital and a hospital outside the territory. As many as 157 patients including 11 in Yanam are under home isolation.
Eighty-four patients recovered and were discharged from various facilities taking the total number of cured patients to 1,953. Healthcare authorities have sent 37,999 swab samples for testing of which 33,991 samples tested negative. The test results of 456 samples are awaited.
