Woman found dead in bamboo farm near Chennai

CHENNAI: A 55-year-old woman money lender was found dead with frothing from her mouth in a bamboo farm in Tiruttani near Chennai on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Navaneethammal, of Ponpadi village,
Navaneethammal is said to have lent money to a woman named Sivagami of the same village. Sivagami allegedly kept dodging from paying the amount back.
Navaneethammal, who left home on Wednesday night to meet Sivagami to get back her money, did not return home. Her family went looking for her and found her dead in a bamboo farm.
They informed police. Police found that her gold earring, chain and a nose-pin, totally weighing at least 10 sovereigns, were missing.
According to the police, Sivagami has been living with a man from Andhra Pradesh for nearly a year. She came out of prison last week, after being remanded in an illicit liquor smuggling case.
The Tiruttani police launched a hunt for Sivagami.
“Preliminary postmortem report suggested that there were no external injuries on the victim's body. We are also trying to find out if it was a snakebite,” said Tiruttani inspector Ramesh.
