Santro’s tyre comes off on Yamuna Expressway, 3-year-old dies in crash

The accident happened near Jewar on the Yamuna Expressway
NOIDA: A three-year-old boy died while his uncle and aunt suffered injuries as one of the tyres of the Santro in which they were travelling came off on the Yamuna Expressway on Tuesday morning.
The three, who were on their way to Aligarh from Ghaziabad, had reached Jewar when the accident happened around 9am. Police said that after the tyre came off, the Haryana-registered car (HR1AQ-5667) skidded for a few metres before flipping multiple times and coming to a stop.
The boy’s head hit the headliner, causing a deep gushing wound.
The boy’s uncle, Bunty Sharma (35), was driving the Santro while his wife was holding little Rudra in her arms. “As the tyre came off, the driver lost control of the car and the boy’s head banged against the headliner. This caused him a major injury in the head. His uncle and aunt, too, suffered injuries,” a police officer said. He added that Bunty’s brother Amit Sharma had allowed his son to accompany them to Ghaziabad to meet someone.
A highway ambulance took the injured to the nearby Kailash hospital, where Rudra was declared dead on arrival. Bunty and his wife were treated for their injuries and discharged from the hospital in the evening.
Police said Bunty and his wife had suffered injuries to their heads and limbs. “The rescue team got information that the accident had taken place on the Noida-Greater Noida carriageway. An ambulance was rushed to the spot,” the officer said.
The child’s uncle and aunt did not want to lodge a complaint. “They gave us in writing that they do not wish to lodge a complaint as nobody was at fault. They took the child’s body home without an autopsy,” said Umesh Bahadur, the SHO of Jewar police station.
