Balabhaskar died on October 2. The postmortem of the child revealed that she died of head injury, while for Balabhaskar head and chest injuries proved fatal.

The CBI has taken over the probe into the death of violinist Balabhaskar and his 18-month-old daughter in a 2018 road accident near here. The family had alleged that a suspect in the case was connected with the gold smuggling racket that came to light recently.

The CBI has taken over the probe even as multiple central government agencies are probing the smuggling of 30 kg gold through diplomatic cargo.

Kalabhavan Sobi, a performing artiste, had alleged that two persons had been present at the accident spot and one of them was P S Sarith, arrested in the gold smuggling case pertaining to diplomatic cargo. Customs had alleged that Sarith, a former PRO at UAE Consulate, had smuggled in gold through the same route several times.

Balabhaskar and his family had met with the accident on September 25.
