Three drug suppliers held in city, cash worth Rs Rs 74 lakh seized

GUWAHATI: The Crime Branch of Guwahati Police late on Tuesday arrested three drug suppliers and recovered unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 74,05,600 in Solapara area of the city. The money is suspected to be utilized for financing illicit trafficking of narcotic substances.
All the three arrested are from Manipur and have been identified as Sangita Rani Laishangbam(55) of Imphal, Sam Laithangbam (53) of Wangkhei angom leikai and Thangkhosat (32) of Imphal West.
A senior police official said they raided the fourth floor of Kalachini Apartment in Solapara after receiving a tip off. He added that the arrested persons are "drug suppliers" of whom Sangita was arrested earlier as well by Guwahati Police for possessing narcotropic substance.
When asked whether the gang has any inter-state connection, the police said, "Investigation is on and we can not disclose anything as of now. They have already been produced before a local court which has sent them to five days of police remand." The official added, "She was in touch with known drug peddlers and was suspected to be supplying drugs to Tashur Ali, who, too, was arrested earlier by Bharalumukh Police under Section 22(B) of the NDPS Act."
