Panjab University not to hold exams

Panjab University
CHANDIGARH: Panjab University (PU) has decided not to hold any exam for intermediate classes of colleges and campus, preparing a module for promoting the students.
According to the module finalised by a special university committee headed by Navdeep Goyal, the result of all classes, including under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG), will be prepared taking together 50 per cent of marks obtained in internal assessment and 50 per cent marks obtained in all previous semester exams. This formula would also apply to pre-PhD.
The committee has asked the chairperson, University School of Open Learning, USOL, to send a proposal regarding method of promotion of students.
The issue regarding conducting physical examination of the final semester of UG/PG courses and the issue of determining the result of those students who failed in first/second semesters would be discussed in the next meeting.
Online classes for UG, PG from August 3
Panjab University will start online classes for intermediate session students of under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) of colleges and the campus from August 3 and for freshers most probably from September 1.
A special committee constituted under Navdeep Goyal to take final call on admission and examination took the decision. The committee decided that there would be four hours’ teaching per day, which would be five periods up to 45 minutes or one hour each for different courses and classes. Faculty members would teach from first to fourth period and queries of students over phone call or WhatsApp would be taken from 3 pm to 4 pm. This period will serve as tutorial /practical/training/ consultation).
The committee further stated that an undertaking, as per the approved format, would be obtained from each student that he or she will neither record the lecture nor use at some other platform to avoid misuse of the online lecture.
The chairpersons would ensure that teaching workload is distributed, first, to all regular faculty, then temporary faculty and then guest faculty, if any. The teachers would conduct online classes from their respective departments as per the guidelines of MHA.
