The makers of KGF Chapter 2 have unveiled the first look of Sanjay Dutt as Adheera on his 61st birthday today.

Sharing the poster, Hombale Films wrote, “‘ADHEERA’ – Inspired by the brutal ways of the vikings 🔥 Happy Birthday @duttsanjay sir.”

The gangster drama marks Sanjay Dutt’s debut in the south Indian film industry. The 61-year-old actor plays antagonist Adheera in the movie. In KGF, Adheera’s character was kept under the wraps and it was only towards the end that the viewers got to know about him.

Talking about his character, Dutt had earlier said, “The character of Adheera in KGF is very powerful. If you have seen Avengers, you know how powerful Thanos is. Adheera is as powerful as him. In KGF’s first chapter, Adheera comes only in the end, but in the second chapter, he has a very strong presence and getup. This is the character I was looking for, and it has come to me.”

KGF 2 comes after the massive box office success of the first film in the franchise. Set in the backdrop of 1980s India, KGF revolved around the power struggle between Yash’s Rocky and Ramachandra Raju’s Garuda who aspire to control the gold mines of Kolar in the 1980s Karnataka. The climax of the film had Rocky killing Garuda.

Now, the final chapter of the gangster saga will follow the power struggle between Rocky and Garuda’s uncle Adheera, which the makers have described as “mother of all collisions.”

Written and directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF 2 was set to hit theaters on October 23, but now it has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
