NAVI MUMBAI: The NMMC reported an average daily of 306 Covid-positive cases in 13 days from July 16 to 28. On Tuesday itself, 320 cases were reported, taking the total cases to 14252. Also, eight deaths on Tuesday, took the toll to 402.
A break-up of positive cases between July 16 and 27 shows that the least number was in Digha ward which is not crowded and not commercial, but has slums. Nerul and Koperkhairne wards top the charts while Vashi and Turbhe have seen gone slow in the spread. Airoli and Ghansoli wards reported an increase, compared to initial days of spread. Rapid antigen tests have ensured more speedy tests being done.
Of 40 recovered Covid patients from the city screened at a camp on Monday at Nerul, 25 were found eligible for plasma donation. The NMMC is making a list of those willing to donate.
NMMC commissioner Abhijit Bangar said, “Our recovery rate is 67% and plasma therapy is needed for a few which is why we are not going all out to stock plasma at this stage. While civic hospitals lack the facility for this, Apollo Hospital is equipped and will store it for us.
