Spain says situation “under control” despite recent increase in corona cases

The Spanish government has stated that the situation in their country is “under control” in spite of a recent increase in corona virus cases.

The statement coming from Madrid is in response to a series of travel restrictions announced recently, which have significantly reversed the reopening of tourism in European continent after months of lockdown.

From Sunday, passengers coming from Spain to the UK will need to spend a fortnight in isolation while Norway imposed restrictions regarding traveling to Spain.

France, which shares a border with Spain, “strongly recommended” that French citizens avoid visiting neighboring Catalonia, where the epidemic is especially mounting.

“The Spanish government considers that the situation is under control, the outbreaks have been located, isolated and controlled,” said Spain’s foreign ministry.

The Spanish ministry said that “Spain is a safe country”, and added that regarding the British quarantine, Spain is “in contact” with London whose decisions it “respects”. Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez Laya has said that Spain is experiencing isolated outbreaks “but not a second wave”.
