JAMMU: An injured comrade of the intruder killed near the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera in J&K’s Rajouri district during Tuesday’s foiled infiltration bid succumbed later that night.
Alert Army personnel manning the LoC had intercepted a group of four to five armed intruders in Samhani Bagsar area in Kalal, Nowshera, while it was trying to sneak into India. During the firefight, one of the infiltrators stepped over a land mine or an improvised explosive device and died on the spot while two others were injured.
“Of the injured duo, one identified as Abid Hussain, died late on Tuesday,” an official source said on Wednesday, adding that security forces had cordoned off the area of the gunbattle and searches were still underway.
On June 1, Army personnel had foiled a similar infiltration bid along the LoC in Kalal area and killed three heavily-armed intruders.
