Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Taylor Swift have this cult-favourite lipstick in common

When you find a red lipstick that truly works for you, you hold on to it. For celebrities too, finding the perfect shade is a process of trial and error, because there are so many options to parse through. There are blue-reds and orange-reds and fire engine-reds, all of which show up differently on different skin tones. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, who loves a bold red lip for red carpet events, told fans her favourite shade in a makeup video. “I'm gonna do an amazing red lip, and I'm gonna look like a typical Indian Bollywood actress,” she shared. “This is something that just lasts on my lips like all the time. It's my favourite colour, called Dragon Girl by NARS and I have been using it, again, since I was like 21, 22. It's amazing,” she confirmed. 

Another celebrity fan of the shade? Taylor Swift. “I have a lot of go-to red lipsticks, but one that really can't go wrong is Dragon Girl by NARS,” she shared in an interview back in 2014. Swift wore her first red lip on her 2009 cover debut on Allure Magazine, and has loved the bold look ever since. 

As for application tips, Kapoor Ahuja likes to moisturise first. She layers her lips with coconut oil to soften and hydrate, and then applies the lipstick on top. “I feel like I conquer the world when I wear red lips. It just makes me feel so good. Usually a lot of the lip balms kind of don't let you use lip colour as effectively. So I use a little bit of it and it makes my lips really nice," she confirms. While some like to draw over their lip line to create the look of a larger pout, Kapoor Ahuja isn't a fan. “I don't like that over-lined look. You know I think every person has a lip shape and lip size for their face,” she said.
