This has been revealed in the action of the Department of Pharmaceuticals in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. Preparations are being made to file a case by seizing sanitizer of three companies.

The sanitizer trend has increased significantly during the Kovid period. In homes, offices, people are sanitizing their hands when they come from outside. Also, its bottles have started to be carried along.

In view of its increasing demand in the market, some companies have started making and selling fake sanitizers to earn money. This has been revealed in the examination of samples taken by the Drug Administration Department.

Drug Inspector Umesh Bharti said that the department had sent samples of sanitizer from different areas of Jhansi to the lab, reports of some of them have come. Sanitizers of three companies collected from New Road and Seepri Bazaar have been found to be fake.

Their goods have been confiscated. Apart from this, methanol has also been found in a company's sanitizer, which is banned. The drug inspector informed that the process of filing a case against all three companies is going on. Reports of 12 more samples are yet to come. Further action will be taken after receiving the report.

People need to pay special attention to fake and real when shopping for sanitizer. The central and state governments have approved only isopropyl alcohols or ethanol-containing sanitizers.

In such a situation, people should use only sanitizer containing their mixture. At the same time, many companies are making sanitizers by adding other types of things including propanol. In addition, some have a lower percentage of alcohol. All these sanitizers are ineffective.

Hand sanitizer with methanol is therefore dangerous

According to health agencies, methanol is a form of alcohol that is highly toxic. Methanol is commonly used in fuel for racing vehicles and as an antifreeze.

Methanol can be so dangerous that by applying it on the skin, it goes directly inside the skin and can be fatal in severe cases. Applying methanol-containing sanitizer on hands can spread toxic effects. Even smelling such alcohol-containing sanitizer can be dangerous.
