Queensland closes shopping centres and restaurants after two infected women LIED to police and snuck into the state from Melbourne without going through quarantine

Two new coronavirus cases recorded in Queensland are linked to a pair of 19-year-old women who lied on their border declarations, police allege.

The pair returned to Brisbane from Melbourne via Sydney on July 21.

Queensland's chief health officer said she was 'very disappointed' after the pair snuck in from Melbourne.

Police have launched a criminal investigation into the incident.

The pair travelled on flights VA 863 and VA 977. Queensland Health contact tracers are identifying close contacts from those flights.
