The 2019/20 Premier League season has ended with Liverpool claiming bragging rights for the first time in 30 years.
Despite the coronavirus bringing a three-month halt to the campaign, the final 92 matches following the resumption brought nothing but excitement back to the screens for millions of fans around the globe.
Here, as chosen by Sport24's Tashreeq Vardien, is the 2019/20 Premier League Team of the Season.
GOALKEEPER
Alisson Becker (LIVERPOOL)
Liverpool had a phenomenal season and since the arrival of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson in 2018, Jurgen Klopp's project has been completed. The former Roma shot stopper's 15 clean sheets and relatively low 76 saves, mainly due to Liverpool's robust back four, was enough to help the Reds man beat Nick Pope (Burnley) and Ederson (Man City) to selection.
DEFENDERS
Trent Alexander-Arnold (LIVERPOOL)
This "kid" is getting better by the season, and his position in Liverpool's title winning side is never in question. The 21-year-old right-back notched up the second most assists (13) for the season while also netting four goals in the process.
Joe Gomes (LIVERPOOL)
A player who has matured beyond his years for a centre-back, the 23-year-old fits perfectly alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of Liverpool's defence.
Virgil van Dijk (LIVERPOOL)
The general of Liverpool's back five and someone who has lived up to the expectation since his arrival at Melwood. At times it looked as if the Dutchman barely broke a sweat during certain games for the Reds throughout the campaign.
Andrew Robertson (LIVERPOOL)
Jurgen Klopp's brilliance for spotting talent was one of the many reasons Liverpool owners lured the German to Merseyside. The acquisition of Andrew Robertson from Hull City for under £10 million was a stroke of genius that has since paid off and the Scotland captain ended the campaign with 12 assists.
MIDFIELDERS
Kevin de Bruyne (MANCHESTER CITY)
Currently the best midfielder in Europe, if not the world, and the Belgium international will want some vengeance next season after Manchester City fell short in their quest to retain the title. However, De Bruyne's 20 assists gets him into the team of the year.
Jordan Henderson (LIVERPOOL)
The newest Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year and deservedly so, Jordan Henderson spearheaded Liverpool's title charge with great leadership on and off the field. A player who has improved under the tutelage of Klopp showed exactly why he wears the armband.
Raheem Sterling (MANCHESTER CITY)
Another great season for Raheem Sterling under Pep Guardiola which could end with a Champions League medal. The England international was at the forefront of attempting to keep City in touch with runaway leaders Liverpool as they dealt with a lengthy injury list throughout the season.
FORWARDS
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (ARSENAL)
Arsenal have struggled defensively throughout the season as they have dealt with a managerial change, but captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang found the back of the net on 22 occasions and beats out Mohamed Salah to be selected for the Sport24 Premier League Team of the Year.
Jamie Vardy (LEICESTER CITY)
The oldest recipient of the Premier League Golden Boot at the age of 33 - Jamie Vardy seemed hungrier than ever as he helped Leicester fight for a top-four place.
Sadio Mane (LIVERPOOL)
Last season, Mohamed Salah stole the spotlight and this campaign was Sadio Mane's chance to receive the plaudits. The Senegalese put on a show of dominance alongside the Egyptian and Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino. His arrival from Southampton as one of Klopp's first signings set the tone for what the club was trying to achieve.
