Union Personnel Minister Jitendra Singh said on Monday that central employees retiring during the Corona epidemic will get a provisional or temporary pension until their regular pension payment order (PPO) is issued and other formalities are completed.

He said that this decision was taken because due to epidemic and lockdown, the government employee may have difficulty in submitting the pension form to the headquarters or sending the hard copy of the claim form along with the service book to the concerned payment and accounts office on time.

Also, there can be more problems if both offices are in different cities. Singh said that this decision is very appropriate for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) as their deployment varies and their headquarters are also in different cities from the Pay and Accounts Office.

He said that the pension and pensioners' welfare department has been upgraded after the Modi government came to power. It has also been able to issue PPOs to retired employees without delay of a day.
