Confiscated mining vehicles parked at Bilaspur in Yamunanagar.YAMUNANAGAR: Yamunanagar district administration has started the process to auction 250 plus vehicles confiscated in overloading and illegal mining cases, said deputy commissioner (DC) Mukul Kumar on Tuesday.
The district administration has formed a committee under the chairmanship of sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Bilaspur for price assessment of the impounded 250 plus vehicles.
He said a total of 253 vehicles impounded for overloading or for indulging in illegal mining activities in Yamunanagar have been released after their owners paid the penalties worth about Rs 7.60 crore and got their vehicles released.
DC Mukul said, “A fine of Rs 7.60 crore was recovered as penalties in cases of 253 vehicles released which were impounded by the mining department or road transport authority (RTA), Yamunanagar."
“However, there are still 250 plus impounded vehicles, whose owners did not get them released even after the passage of one month. As per the instructions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the administration has started the process of auctioning the vehicles which are not taken away by their owners. A committee in this regard has been formed under the chairmanship of SDM Bilaspur for price assessment of these 250 plus vehicles”, said DC Mukul.
As per the information given by officials, the committee has held one meeting and after fixing the reserve price of the impounded vehicles, they will be auctioned by the district administration in the near future.
“It is a continuous process and every day the vehicles are impounded which are found breaking the norms”, added DC Mukul.
