Olyroo midfielder Denis Genreau set to sign for Macarthur FC

The composition of the inaugural squad of Macarthur FC is becoming clearer with the A-League newcomers set to announce their second player with the signing Olyroo Denis Genreau.

The 21-year-old creative midfielder announced his departure from Melbourne City on Saturday and is expected to sign a three-year deal with Macarthur, according to sources close to the club.

The highly rated Genreau is set to join Macarthur after spells with City and Dutch club PEC Zwolle, where he made 10 appearances in the Eredivisie in the 2018-19 season. However, game time in the A-League has been lean for the centre-mid since returning from the Netherlands, restricted to just four starts with Melbourne City.

His move to Campbelltown comes with the prospect of more regular game time with the club regarding Genreau as a bright prospect for the future, seeking to sign him on one of the longest term contracts in the competition.

Genreau is set to join Australian international Tommy Oar as the two confirmed signings at the expansion club but Macarthur suggest they have already signed seven other players ahead of their A-League debut in December.

While the club has been busy in its recruitment, it has withheld the announcement the majority of their signings until the players officially leave their current clubs so as not to jeopardise their prospect of game time.

Macarthur are set to accelerate their recruitment in the coming weeks with the public certainty coach Ante Milicic will remain at the helm for next season. Milicic announced his departure from the Matildas' job last week to commit to the Bulls, a club with which he signed in May last year.
