Paytm boss shared I-T refund details worth Rs 27cr

Paytm founder had an 'oops moment', but handled it like a boss that he is.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, who has over 382K Twitter followers, on Tuesday took to the micro-blogging site to laud the country's Income Tax (I-T) department for their tax reforms, alongside a picture of a chat which showed Paytm's I-T refund.

"This is absolutely correct direction our country is going, for refunds of tax returns filed," his first post read.

What concerned people was the fintech boss' failed attempt at fading out the refunded amount. Various friend and 'well-wishers' called and messaged him to bring this to his notice.

In the image shared, one can see the details of I-T refund of Paytm Mall's FY 2018-2019 (AY 2019-20), shared by Vikas Garg, Deputy CFO of Paytm. Total I-T refund worth Rs 27,45,46,760 - which includes I-T refund of 25,42,09,970 and interest amount of Rs 2,03,36,790 - were credited back to the company's account.

The next message by Garg said, "the last two came automatically on self-assessment". To which, Paytm board member and a top banker, Vivek Mathur, replied, "This government really works! This is great".

The 42-year-old boss was quick to repond to the concerns of the people. "Yes, I figured every number is visible. An Indian company’s numbers are available to public on RoC website," he wrote quoting his previous tweet.

He emphasised on the 'key message', saying India is marching forward and cutting red tape.
