A “Covid Awareness Van” to move around Chandigarh roadsCHANDIGARH: As Covid-19 cases have crossed 900-mark in the city, the UT administration is planning to restart odd-even or weekend closure in the busy markets of sectors 15,19 and 22 and in Manimajra.
UT administrator VP Singh Badnore on Monday directed MC commissioner KK Yadav to identify congested and other markets, where social distancing is not followed so that stringent regulatory measures, including closing on weekend and odd-even formula can be considered.
A senior official said though police and other teams issue challans to violators, people are still regularly violating social distancing and not wearing face masks in these busiest markets.
The MC commissioner apprised the administrator that the number of sanitisation teams have been increased.
Earlier in the meeting, Dr G Dewan, director health services, said they have covered more than 10,000 people in door-to-door surveys of the different parts of the city and 10 teams have been deployed for the purpose.
The PGI authorities apprised Badnore about the feasibility of doing antigen testing and the ICMR protocol finalised. Badnore desired at least 1,000 such testing kits be procured by PGI and used primarily for OPD patients, including others, to validate the usefulness of these kits.
