Section 144 imposed around Ambala airbase ahead of Rafale's arrival

AMBALA: A day before the arrival of the Rafale fighter jets in Ambala, the district administration has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the areas around the Indian Air Force (IAF) Station in Ambala Cantonment on Tuesday.
Ambala deputy commissioner (DC) issued the orders on Tuesday, in which, he has prohibited any sought of photography or video-recording of IAF airbase on Wednesday, when five Rafale fighter jets are scheduled to touch down the ground from Al Dafra in UAE.
Ambala DC stated in his orders, “It has been made to appear to me by the Air Force Authorities, Ambala Cantt dated July 27, 2020, that induction of Rafale aircraft is planned at Air Force Station, Ambala which is of paramount importance in national security. The base is surrounded by various villages like Dhulkot, Baldev Nagar, Garnala, Panjokhra, etc, and is in the very close proximity of National Highway (NH). The movement of anti-social elements near Air Force vicinity and media persons taking photographs from the houses adjoining villages to the Station during the event cannot be ruled out and will endanger the security of information.”
“Therefore, I prohibit photography of any assets of Air Force Station, Ambala on July 29, 2020, from dusk to dawn with immediate effect”, further states the order by Ambala DC.
Ambala superintendent of police (SP) Abhishek Jorwal on Tuesday said, "Before the arrival of Rafale aircraft, Section 144 has been imposed around IAF station in Ambala Cantonment for July 29. Any sought of gathering, photography of IAF assets from rooftops, or anywhere or with drones has been prohibited. Even the media persons have been prohibited from taking any photographs. This is in the interest of the security of IAF assets. If anybody found capturing IAF assets, action will be taken as per law."
As per the information provided by the spokesperson of Ministry of Defence (MoD), ‘No media coverage is planned on arrival. The final induction ceremony will take place in the second half of August 20 wherein full media coverage would be planned. The “No. 17 Squadron - Golden Arrows”, is being raised at this base equipped with Rafale aircraft.”
