Amid rising demand for home delivery personnel in the wake of Covid-induced lockdowns, Amazon announced that it was expanding its Flex programme which operates on the strength of part-time workers, Business Insider has reported.
The programme, launched in three India cities in June, is now being expanded to 35 cities in the country, the report said.

Under Flex in the US, one can earn money on an hourly basis — at the rate of between $1.61 and $1.87 per hour. For India, the rate on offer is between Rs 120 and Rs 140 for an hour.It is a good part-time opportunity to supplement incomes at a time when India is struggling with the impact of Covid, Amazon India said.

One can sign up via the Amazon Flex app. Anyone who owns a two-wheelers can sign up, and pick a schedule to deliver packages.
- How many part-time jobs are being generated under Flex?
Amazon India had announced in May that it had 50,000 openings for its fulfillment and delivery network. These include jobs to be had under the Flex program. It further announced that the expansion of Flex "has created tens of thousands of part-time jobs for students, homemakers, and others."

Opportunities under the programme are available seven days a week, Amazon India said. The work offered under the Flex programme is contractual and seasonal by nature, and is dependent on local demand.
