Man crashes car into shopfront in Eastwood
An elderly driver has escaped without injury after driving his SUV into a Chinese restaurant at Eastwood, in Sydney's north.
Police were called just after midday and were greeted with the sight of a damaged Honda CRV that had driven onto the curb and into the window of the shop — the Eastwood Peking Seafood Restaurant on Rowe Street.

The shopfront sustained minor damage and the driver — who tested negative to a breath test — was unharmed.
Video obtained by a bystander shows the front of the car, driven by a man in his 80s, smash into a garbage bin, before spinning around and reversing first into the front of the restaurant, and then the metal poles outside the National Australia Bank branch next door.
The car then smashes into the front of a parked taxi and comes to a halt as smoke billows from under the bonnet.
Fire and Rescue NSW acting Superintendent Rob Jansen said two firefighters were quickly on the scene, as they happened to be nearby for lunch.
"They moved his wife and a couple of other people into a shop so that they were off the footpath, and made the site safer until they worked out what was going on and were able to get the car stopped.
Mr Jansen said that the man may have got the pedals mixed up while trying to park.
"He's collided with the front of the shop, then tried to get it back on the road, then into a parked car."
