Ambala reports 12th Covid death, 80 new infections

The surge in cases has increased the work of contact tracers
AMBALA: A 59-year-old man died of Covid-19 in the district on Monday, pushing the toll to 12.
“The resident of Railway Colony, Ambala Cantt, died at MMIMSR, Mullana. He was a patient of diabetes and heart disease and had undergone heart bypass surgery in the past. He was referred to MMIMSR in a serious condition from Railway Hospital, Ambala Cantt, after he had tested positive for Covid-19 on July 21. Since his admission at Mullana, he was on BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) support and from last three days he was on ventilator,” said deputy civil surgeon Dr Sanjeev Singla.

In another grim news, the district reported a massive number of 80 new cases on Monday, increasing the count to 1,334, with 270 active cases.
As many as 33 patients were from Ambala city, 15 from Chourmastpur, 14 from Ambala Cantt, 10 from Mullana, seven from Shahzadpur and one from Barara.
“Out of the new cases, 62 are contacts of positive patients, 15 are symptomatic, one is a health care worker, two have travel histories to Dubai and Chennai, and others were detected during sampling,” said Singla.
At the same time, 46 patients were discharged from a hospital, taking the recovery count to 1,052, said Singla.
