New Delhi: United Kingdom Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party Boris Johnson has announced the launch of Better Health Strategy by its National Health Service to help citizens take care of their health and lose weight.
The announcement was made by Johnson on Twitter Monday.
“Losing weight is hard but with some small changes we can all feel fitter and healthier. If we all do our bit, we can reduce our health risks and protect ourselves against coronavirus – as well as taking pressure off the NHS,” the PM wrote on Twitter.

Johnson posted a video of himself and his dog, as he spoke about how he has always struggled with his weight. He was diagnosed with coronavirus in April and kept in the ICU for a while.
“I’ve always wanted to lose weight. Since recovering from Covid-19, I have been steadily building my fitness. I don’t want to make no excessive claims but I am on a strict diet,” he said.
Speaking about his time in the ICU, Johnson said he was “too fat” for someone who is 5 feet and 10 inches tall. Now, he says, he goes for a run in the morning with his dog. He said he was getting fitter and running faster.

“If you go for a run or exercise at the beginning of the day, the rest of the day will be a breeze,” he noted. The PM said one need not go to a gym at this time since trainers and apps are available online.
The Better Health Strategy, he said, was a sympathetic understanding and approach to losing weight. It takes into account people’s struggles with weight.
Covid in UK
The UK has reported more than three lakh cases of the virus and over 45,700 deaths due to Covid-19. The country was also under lockdown for a few weeks.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Johnson admitted that the government did not understand the virus properly in the first few weeks and months, and there were many things which could have been done differently.
Preparing for the next phase of the pandemic, Johnson said the UK has increased testing and tracing. It has also procured more personal protective equipment for its frontline workers.
