Dy BDO dies of COVID, second official to fall victim in Gummidipoondi block office

The woman Deputy Block Development Officer of Gummidipoondi died of COVID-19 on Saturday.

The deceased Shakunthala of Sholavaram tested positive on July 3 and was admitted at a private hospital. Though her kin was informed that she recovered from COVID a few days later, she continued to be in the hospital as her condition remained critical due to other medical complications. She succumbed on Saturday after 21 days of treatment. Earlier, BDO Saminathan (53) had died of COVID and with Shakunthala, two officers of Gummidipoondi Block Development Office have fallen victims to coronavirus.
