Haryana receives 14% more rain than normal

Monsoon is likely to become active again in Haryana from Tuesday (ANI)
HISAR: The state has received so far 14% more rainfall than the usual. It has been recorded at 189.5 mm. Although 11 districts have received 7% to 64% less rainfall, remaining districts received 30% to 132% more.
After analysing meteorological department data, the agricultural meteorological department of Haryana Agricultural University said most areas received rain as the monsoon became active in the state again from July 17 to July 21.
Data shows that Ambala received 43% less rain, in Bhiwani the shortfall was 11%, in Gurugram it was 10%, in Mahendergarh it was 47%, in Mewat it was 42%, in Palwal it was 23%, 64% in Panchkula, 7% in Panipat, 28% in Rohtak, 47% in Rohtak and15% in Yamunanagar.
Districts which received more rain than usual include Faridabad, with 54% above normal, 45% in Fatehabad, 41% in Hisar, 43% in Jhajjar, 30% in Jind, 132% in Kaithal, 80% in Karnal, 79% in Kurukshetra, 73% in Sirsa and 16% in Sonipat.
Professor Madan Khichar, head of the agricultural meteorological department of Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), said the monsoon is likely to shift from the Himalayan foothills to the plains from July 27 and become active in Haryana from July 28.
Rainfall is likely to begin in districts of North Haryana, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Kaithal and NCR areas of Sonipat, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal, Jhajjar and its surrounding areas from July 28 onwards.
