NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday chargesheeted members of a J&K-based infiltration and transportation module which, in coordination with Pakistan-based Jaish handlers and "launch pad commanders", received infiltrated Pakistani terrorists at the international border in Samba and ferried them to South Kashmir.

The case dates back to January 31, 2020, when a truck carrying three freshly infiltrated Pakistani terrorists was stopped for checking by the naka duty staff at Nagrota, Jammu on the Pathankot-Sringar Highway. While driver Sameer Ahmad Dar and his two associates Asif Ahmad Malik and Sartaj Mantoo escaped under the cover of pre-dawn darkness, the heavily-armed Pakistani terrorists hiding inside the cargo cabin of the truck started firing at the police party. Once security personnel was grievously injured, according to NIA. In the ensuing operation, the three Pakistani terrorists were killed while the driver and his two aides were arrested.
During investigation, NIA arrested three more terror associates of the module. The questioning of the accused revealed that the January 2020 unsuccessful attempt at facilitating freshly-infiltrated terrorists from Pakistan was preceded by a successful infiltration in December 2019, in which a group of three Pakistani terrorists was assisted by the module in Samba after crossing over from Pakistan and taken to South Kashmir.
As per the NIA chargesheet, the module was in touch with Pakistan-based Jaish handlers and launchpad commanders who used to share with Sameer Ahmad Dar, via secure messaging apps, the location of freshly-infiltrated terrorists and also the code-words for receiving them.
The arms and ammunition seized from the terrorists included 2 AK-47 rifles, 1 AK-56, 2 AK-74’s 1 M4 Carbine, 2 Glock pistols, 3 Chinese pistols, 35 grenades, 12 kg high-grade explosive, 3 satellite phones, 6 wireless devices, 6 remote controls, 9 detonators and batteries brought by the Pakistani terrorists.
