Girl, two, sexually assaulted at play centre in Sydney's west

Investigations are under way after a two-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at a play centre in Sydney's west on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the Lollipops Playland & Cafe at Penrith before 12.30pm on Sunday after the girl was found injured in a storeroom. She had been missing for a period of time.

The girl's mother was looking for the lost child before a member of the public found her in the room, police were told.

Officers from Nepean police area command attended the centre and established a crime scene.

Detectives from the child abuse and sex crimes squad were investigating the incident, with initial inquiries suggesting the girl was sexually assaulted by an unknown man.

Anyone with information about the incident, in particular people who were at the play centre on Sunday and may have witnessed suspicious behaviour, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Lollipops was closed on Monday and were set to reopen on Tuesday, a note on the centre's Facebook page said.
