Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar (FIle photo)CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar on Sunday said BJP is killing democracy by destabilising the state governments of opposition parties in a bid to grab power.
After destroying democracy in Goa and Madhya Pradesh, BJP is now following the same dirty tricks in Rajasthan, said Jakhar, adding that this is a threat to the federal structure of the country and the Congress party would not remain silent against BJP’s bullying.
He said Congress is going to launch an awareness campaign at the national level against the erosion of democracy by BJP. He gave a call to all the Congress functionaries to share their videos against the anti-democratic thinking of BJP on social media, so that people could be made aware of the truth.
Claiming that the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan is doing a great job in the time of Covid crisis, Jakhar allegedthatthecentral government and the BJP leaders are indulging in buying and selling of MLAs.
“BJP leaders’ policy of intimidation and abusing the constitutional position of the governor is a way to overthrow the governments elected by the people,” alleged Jakhar.
He further said the Rajasthan governor not convening the assembly session at the request of the chief minister in violation of the constitutional norms has made it clear that he is ignoring democracy with the concurrence of the central government.
