In a move that will significantly impact business models of broadcasters, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is bringing in a new tariff order called NTO 2.0. TRAI directed all broadcasters to ensure compliance of NTO 2.0 which is currently under sub judice in the Bombay High court. The move will impact broadcasters' pricing ability for channels. Individual channels that were earlier priced at Rs 19, have been capped to Rs 12 per month individually or as part of any bouquet.
