Mysuru: The district health department has made Covid-19 test compulsory for pregnant women in containment zones. Till now 28 pregnant women have tested positive in Mysuru.
“Pregnant women from containment zones notified by the district administration shall undergo a Covid-19 test 15 days before their due date. Pregnant women from other areas shall undergo the test if they develop fever, cough and cold,” said Mysuru DHO Dr R Venkatesh.
He added that the department has asked private hospitals to come out with a 100-bed maternity hospital exclusively for Covid patients. This decision has gained importance following complaints that delivery related services have become costlier following Covid-19 outbreak in the district.
