BENGALURU: A gold polisher working with a popular jewellery showroom on MG Road is said to have escaped with 2.4kg gold worth Rs 1.2 crore.
Lambodara, the suspect, has gone missing and his mobile phone is switched off, police said. He was working with the showroom for eight years.
The showroom would accept gold ornaments for repairing and polishing from customers. Lambodara would take them to goldsmiths and collect them after the polishing was done.
According to the FIR, a customer complained on July 23 that he hadn't received the ornaments given for polishing. When Lambodara was questioned, he fumbled for an answer. The same evening, he left the showroom without telling anyone and switched off his mobile.
Sensing something wrong, the showroom checked the weight and value of the gold ornaments he had handled for the past eight years and realised 2.4kg gold was missing.
