Rajendra Jagtap took charge as Chairman and Managing Director of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML)

Pune: Rajendra Jagtap took charge as Chairman and Managing Director of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) on Friday.

Jagtap who led the Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) earlier will now replace Nayana Gunde. She presently holds the post of Deputy Director-General of YASHADA, Pune.

PMPML has ached huge losses as most of its buses are in depot since March-end in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. After taking charge on Friday, the new CMD called a meeting of heads of various department of the transport body to evaluate how the PMPML was dealing with the situation caused by the current crisis and lockdown.

Jagtap is the 16th CMD of the transport body. He is an Indian Defence Estate Service officer (IDES) and is on a delegation with the Maharashtra government from 2012. He was also Additional Municipal Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for five years (2012 to 2017) before being selected as CEO of PSCDCL. He was granted an extension of two years in 2017 and in November 2019, he was released of his PSCDCL charge.
