Bad light stops play in Manchester and it brings stumps as well. West Indies finish Day 2 at 137/6 in 47.1 overs, trail by 232 runs. (Holder 24*, Dowrich 10*; Anderson 2/17, Broad 2/17)
Just like the first day, England went into the dressing room with head held high at the end of the second day’s play. England pace battery fired in unison to reduce West Indies to 137/6 at stumps. James Anderson and Stuart Broad were the pick of the bowlers for England, chipping in with two wickets each. Jermaine Blackwood and Jason Holder tried reviving West Indies innings with a decent sixth-wicket stand. But Chris Woakes shattered Windies hopes with a wicket of Blackwood. Holder and Shane Dowrich are the last hopes for West Indies and they need to be there atleast for an hour on Day 3 to avoid the follow-on.

It turned out to be a good session for England, claiming three wickets to put West Indies in trouble. Stuart Broad struck in his first over to dismiss Kraigg Brathwaite cheaply. John Campbell and Shai Hope added 43 runs for the second in an effort to revive West Indies innings. But Jofra Archer and James Anderson shifted momentum in Englnd's way by producing unplayable deliveries to remove Campbell and Hope respectively.

What a session it has been. Having finished Day 1 on top, England started poorly on Day 2 as they were put in trouble. From 258/4 to 280/8, the hosts found themselves in a precarious situation. Ollie Pope could not add a run to his overnight score while Jos Buttler also failed to get going. West Indies pacers Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel wrecked havoc early in the day to leave England in tatters. But Stuart Broad came to his team’s rescue with a quick-fire fifty that helped England post respectable 369 in the first innings. Broad hit the joint-third fastest Test half century for England off just 33 balls.
