PATNA: The LJP president
Chirag Paswan has written a fresh letter to CM
Nitish Kumar, seeking a probe into mysterious “disappearance” of a
Covid-19 patient of his parliamentary constituency Jamui from Patna-based
Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) since July 6.
In his letter, Chirag has said that
Ranjit Kumar, a native of ward no-6 of Sheikhpura town which falls under Jamui parliamentary constituency, was undergoing treatment of cancer at Mumbai for the last six months. On June 25 this year, he was declared a positive case of Covid-19 after a test conducted at the Mahavir Cancer Institute, Phulwari Sharif. He was kept at an isolation centre at Sheikhpura on June 29. After being referred from Sheikhpura isolation centre, the patient was under treatment at the NMCH since July 3. But when the members of the patient’s family reached the NMCH on July 6 to meet him, Ranjit could not be found in the hospital.
(

Contacted over phone, the missing patient’s wife Anita Kumari told TOI on Saturday that she again went to the NMCH on July 13 to search her husband, but the hospital administration did not provide any clue. Ultimately, she went to a nearby police station in the state capital to lodge an FIR, but police officers were not ready to record her statement. Later, she went to Sheikhpura police station in her district, but the cops too didn’t register her written complaint. After that she approached the local MP.
Chirag who represents Bihar’s Jamui constituency in the Lok Sabha, has also sent a copy of his letter to the state’s health minister
Mangal Pandey, director general of police, Bihar, district magistrates of Patna and Sheikhpura and the civil surgeon of Sheikhpura district.
Categorically pointing out that the missing patient hails from his parliamentary constituency, Chirag, in his letter, has also urged the CM to get the matter probed and take necessary actions against the persons who would be found negligent in the probe.
The LJP chief also sent a separate letter to the NMCH superintendent urging him to take necessary action in this matter.
