Nalin Kumar Kateel backs BSY government's handling of Covid-19 situation in Karnataka

MANGALURU: Backing his government’s handling of Covid-19 situation in Karnataka, state BJP chief Nalin Kumar Kateel on Saturday said hi-flow oxygen system will be operational in all district, taluk hospitals and community health centres in the state on August 15.
Government has also put in place a comprehensive strategy to tackle rising positive cases that is being reported across the state since unlock 1.0, Nalin, also DK member of parliament, said.
Listing myriad achievements of BJP government on the eve of B S Yediyurappa government completing one-year in office, Nalin told reporters here on Saturday that the ministers in the BSY cabinet have categorically dismantled allegations of wrongdoings in Covid-19 purchases as alleged by leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah. “Even Yediyurappa himself has agreed to show all the purchase indents to the opposition to foster transparency,” he said.
The government that was poised for growth on the back of progressive budget that Yediyurappa had presented had to change tack with the outbreak of the global pandemic, he said. Lockdown in the state as per directions from the union government helped keep cases in check, he said adding was in the forefront of enforcing the same. Care was taken to ensure that the poor did not go hungry and a record relief package was announced for vulnerable sections, he noted.
With the spurt in cases since unlock, the government has stepped up efforts to provide timely treatment to the affected population and saving lives. The survey of around 1.5 lakh vulnerable population including pregnant women, children, and elderly for health issues that coronavirus could aggravate put Karnataka in the forefront of states to do so. Opening of 10100 bed Covid care centre at Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre is another such step, he said
Various sections of industry have been given relief by way of waiving off fixed charges and interest free payment of fixed charge for large industries. Steps have been taken to shore up the state’s economy amidst global fallout of the pandemic on the world economy. CM pitching for the state at the World Economic Forum at Davos was a step in this direction. Companies in aerospace, food processing have evinced interest to invest in the state, he said.
