Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tests positive for COVID-19

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Saturday he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, 61, has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a tweet written in Hindi, the CM said, "My dear countrymen, I had COVID-19 symptoms and, after a test, my report came positive. I am following all the guidelines and will quarantine myself according to the doctor's advice".

He also added, “If COVID19 is treated on time, a person is completely cured. I have been reviewing the status of corona infection every evening since March 25. I will try to review corona with video conferencing as much as possible now,” he added.

The CM also appealed colleagues to take all possible precaution to avoid contagion and requested those who had come in contact with him to get their test done as well.

He said, "I appeal to the people of my state to be careful, just a little carelessness invites the coronavirus. I made every effort to avoid the virus but people used to meet me on many subjects," he said. Number of Ministers and political leaders in India have been caught under the wave of the novel coronavirus.

He further stated that in his absenteeism, the daily meetings on the state's COVID-19 preparations and controls will be conducted by Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, Health Education minister Vishvas Sarang Minister of Urban Development and Administration Bhuppendra Siingh and state health minister Dr Prabhuram Choudhary.
