Weekend begins on a rainy note in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: It was a pleasant start to the weekend for Hyderabadis as light rains lashed parts of the city on Friday evening.
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society figures, LB Nagar received the highest rainfall of 25.3 mm followed by 22.8 mm in Ramanthapur, 22.5 mm in Chilkanagar and 20.5 mm in Habsiguda.
The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad attributed light rains to southwest monsoon activity.
Meteorologists predict that there will be a lull for the next two days following which the IMD, Hyderabad has issued a thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, at times heavy rains, at isolated places over Telangana from July 28-29.
As per IMD, Hyderabad, Hyderabad has received 43 per cent excess rainfall from June 1 till date. The city has received cumulative rainfall of 346.5 mm as against the normal of 242.3 mm in the last two months. Overall, Telangana has received 32 per cent excess rains by witnessing 419.9 mm cumulative rainfall as against 318.5 mm of normal rainfall.
