FEAR THE WALKING DEAD

Season final ★★½

9.20pm, ABC

In the same universe as the original series, The Walking Dead, risen corpses continue to wreak panic across America, as an ordinary family resorts to increasingly desperate measures to escape them. The violence is extreme and the creatures as realistic as it’s possible to imagine them to be, given that they’re obviously not real and merely the product of a truly sick imagination. The first two seasons are on SBS OnDemand.

THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

★★★

7pm, Ten

This peek into a hospital in Scotland tonight follows a six-year-old girl undergoing chemotherapy; a 10-year-old boy whose feet have become deformed because he has been walking exclusively on his toes since he was a toddler; and the progress of an extremely premature baby. It feels exactly like what it is – an uncomfortable look behind the privacy curtain at other people’s distress. Positive uses for this show might be to help prepare littlies for hospital visits, and as an antidote to self-pity.
