Many brave soldiers set an example of indomitable courage on 26 July 1999 in the Kargil War, looting the enemy. One such heroic warrior who has displayed the feat of bravery in Kargil war is Veerchakra conqueror Captain Raghunath Singh, resident of Gharota village of Pathankot. Sharing the experience of the Kargil War with the same enthusiasm and passion, Captain Raghunath Singh said that Captain Vikram Batra fought as a war hero in Kargil. Captain Batra stole a salary of Rs. 1 lakh and chose the Indian Army. Capt Raghunath told that Captain Batra hoisted the tricolor at point 5140 peaks after killing 10 Pak soldiers.

After the martyrdom of Captain Batra, Subedar Raghunath (now retired captain) took command and crawled along with the comrades and attacked 12 Pak soldiers including Group Commander of Pakistan Army, Imtiyaz Khan, and hoisted the tricolor on the snowy peak. Avenged martyrdom.

Drunk martyrdom to save Junior's life

Capt. Raghunath Singh said that on 7 July 1999, Captain Vikram Batra got the task of liberating the enemy from the peak of Point 4875 in the Moscow valley, during which he was also with him. While fighting bravely, Captain Batra got rid of the top enemy.

The mission was completed, meanwhile, Captain Vikram looked upon his junior colleague Lieutenant Naveen, whose feet were badly injured by grenades thrown by the enemy. Captain Batra was carrying his companion to a safe place on his shoulder. Then Pak soldiers attacked him and a bullet came out piercing his chest.
